But how do you get the best value for your trade? Follow these simple tips, from your friends at Avondale Nissan!
1) Wash Your Car. You’d be surprised how many trade-ins that look, um, a little tired. However, putting a fresh shine on your car is the easiest way to boost its trade-in value. Vacuum the interior, wash the wheels and tires, and take a little time to make it look its best.
2) Fix Little Dents. Anything you can do prior to the trade-in day to save eventual work for the dealer will help. That includes fixing a few of the little things, such as door dents. While some scratches and dents might not be worth the expense, little dings can often be fixed with “Paintless Dent Repair,” which often costs less than $100 and might boost the value significantly.
3) Address Small Service Issues. Should you get your oil changed before you bring it in? Nah, probably not. However, issues that might take time and money for us to fix will be reflected in the trade-in value. Fixing small things such as mirrors, window issues and the like will often help trade-in value.
4) Pay Attention to Your Tires. Many fixes might not seem as though they’d be worth doing prior to your trade-in, and replacing your tires probably would seem to be among them. However, if there is no tread left on your tires, this will definitely come up during negotiating a trade-in value. If the tread is absolutely gone, it might be a good idea to find an inexpensive set prior to taking your vehicle in for a trade.
