2016 Nissan Titan Preview Phoenix AZ
Don’t look now, Phoenix, but Nissan’s got something pretty special to share with you. After months of conjecture and spy shots showing it cruising around Nissan’s Arizona performance headquarters, we’ve finally seen the real deal: the 2016 Nissan Titan has arrived at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show, and it is impressive to say the least. It’s been fully redesigned, it has an all-new powertrain, and it’s seems primed to take the full-size light-duty pickup segment by storm. So, are you ready for one of Avondale Nissan’s famous deep-dives with the 2016 Nissan Titan? Because we most certainly are!
Now Presenting, the Titan XD. The first Titan to see production will be the XD edition, expected to begin rolling off of the line in fall of this year. Apart from the total redesign, let’s address the elephant in the room first of all: the Turbo Diesel powertrain. The Titan’s segment has been begging for a true turbo diesel entry for years, and now they’ve got it, a Cummins 5.0L Turbo Diesel V8. This powertrain is estimated to roll out an impressive 310 horsepower along with an otherworldly 555 pound-feet of torque. It will also offer a 12,000-pound towing capacity with a 2,000-pound payload capacity, as well as an available gooseneck hitch for high-volume towing.
Other Trims and Powertrains are on the Way as Well. While we may not know the specifics for several weeks, here’s what we know for sure: There will be four core trim levels, the standard Titan, the Titan XD, the rugged PRO-4X, and a line-topping Platinum Reserve. There will also be three cab configurations–Single, Crew and King Cab–as well as three bed lengths. So, even more than in recent years, we can expect the 2016 Titan to be among the most customizable trucks on the road.
This Trucks Roots are All-American. Take what you will from this: “Designed in California. Engineered in Michigan. Tested in Arizona. Built in Mississippi. Powered by Indiana and Tennessee.” Yes, the Titan’s roots can now all be found stateside, and it shows. The fit and finish of the new interior cabin speaks to Nissan’s desire to appeal to American drivers, and it’s truly ready to compete with the big boys from American competition such as Ford, Chevy and Dodge with this redesign.
As we stated, the 2016 Nissan Titan is set to arrive this fall at Avondale Nissan, but that doesn’t mean you must wait for further information. Pay us a visit at Avondale Nissan today, and we’ll fill your ears and heads with all of the info that we’re permitted to share!
