It’s only a few weeks away from Labor Day at Avondale Nissan, that rare time of year when we take a break from welcoming models such as the 2016 Nissan Maxima and just kick our feet up to relax. Our interests here are pretty diverse, just like the Phoenix area itself. So, what to do this Labor Day weekend? Here are a few Labor Day events in the Phoenix area for you to consider, from your pals here at Avondale Nissan!
3rd Annual Arizona Reggae Festival — Scottsdale, AZ — September 4th thru 6th
Arizona’s largest reggae festival returns to Scottsdale’s West World complex over Labor Day weekend, bringing its blend of music, food and culture to perhaps its largest audience ever. There will be a Caribbean Chili cook-off, music from nationally recognized reggae artists and hosting from none other than Snoop Lion (née Snoop Dogg). Fun for the whole family? Hmm, maybe not at this festival.
Giants vs Diamondbacks Baseball Game — Chase Field, Phoenix — September 7th
If the season ended today, both of these teams — yes, even the defending champion Giants — would be on the outside of the playoff picture. That lends additional importance to this hotly contested rivalry, beginning with this afternoon tilt on Labor Day. While Reggae Fest may not be the family’s cup of tea, a day at the ballpark might prove otherwise.
Big Surf Water Park — Tempe — All Labor Day Weekend
We know, it might be more popular to go to Wet n’ Wild, which is a terrific water park in its own right. However, this jewel over in Tempe might be a little less packed, which is good enough reason for us to give it the nod. This is the second-to-last weekend that the park is open as well, so it might be your last good chance to enjoy the sun and surf for the year.
Wine Tasting Day Trip — Verde Valley — All Labor Day Weekend
Let’s go really off the beaten path with this one, shall we? The Verde Valley is both the closest to Phoenix Metro and the most packed with great wineries. Head an hour and a half north of Phoenix and enjoy all sorts of terrific wines, and bask in all the cute little towns along the way, such as Cottonwood, Sedona and Clarkdale.
So, who’s excited? We hope that you have a great Labor Day, and that you’ll come see us soon at Avondale Nissan!
