As we’ve been tirelessly covering here at Avondale Nissan, the release of the 2016 Nissan Titan is on the horizon. Not coincidently, so too is the Super Bowl, which will be played on Sunday, February 7th in Santa Clara, CA. We’ve gotten a first look at the Nissan Titan Super Bowl commercial, which has gotten quite a bit of notoriety, which will make sense once you’ve watched it. Nissan Titan Super Bowl Commercial
So what is the issue, you ask? Well, it isn’t so much an issue as it is just unorthodox; the commercial serves to point out that Nissan’s latest truck couldn’t have been made without some amazing trucks that have led the way in the past. It’s a bold statement, really. And it isn’t one that comes from false modesty or the old “blowing-smoke” gamesmanship. It’s a sign of sincere respect, even as it announces that, Hey, there’s a new kid in town.

Instead, they show the trajectory that Nissan has chosen as the Titan has become more refined, most obvious in the new 2016 Titan XD. First, we see the 1972 Chevy C10, which was known for being a daily driver as well as a work truck, much like the Titan. Next, we see the 1995 Ford F-150, which was among the first trucks to feature a luxurious interior. And last, we get a glimpse of a 1985 Dodge, which was the first to use a Cummins diesel — which, as you’ll remember, can now be found in the 2016 Titan XD. Taken together, they show that although the 2016 Titan XD is truly a model all its own, it has taken cues from some of the most legendary trucks on the full-size landscape.
