Could this be the 2016 Nissan Maxima?

2016 Nissan Maxima Preview

Even if we’re only now welcoming many of the 2015 models to our Phoenix-area dealership, some news is simply too exciting to ignore. We have mentioned before that the Nissan Maxima might be receiving a thorough redesign for the 2016 model year, and now certain rumors are supporting the notion that it might actually be based on the so-called Nissan Sport Sedan concept first seen at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. Is this the case? While we can’t be certain, let’s look at what that might mean for the 2016 Nissan Maxima.

2016 Nissan MaximaStylistically similar to the 2015 Nissan Murano? The Sport Sedan Concept seen in Detroit certainly shared many design cues with the soon-to-arrive Murano, didn’t it? It featured the much-discussed “floating rear pillar,” which received much of the attention. However, this wasn’t all it shared with the Murano. It also featured the iconic V-Motion grille found on several Nissan models, in addition to unmistakable angular design. So, are the next Maxima and the Murano intended to look like siblings? It’s beginning to appear that way.
Is a hybrid on the way? When it was first revealed, the Maxima boasted a similar powertrain to what is found now: a 3.5-liter V6. It was rumored to be tuned to achieve greater power numbers, reaching up and over 300 hp, in addition to its pairing with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to achieve higher fuel economy numbers. However, there are rumors that a hybrid may be featured as well, a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid similar to the one found in the Nissan Pathfinder. This, to put it simply, would be awesome.
Eye-catching new colors? When it was first released (as seen in the photos here), the Sport Sedan concept was featured in the Pacific Sunset color. However, if we’re to assume that it’s sharing much of its pedigree with the Murano, new colors might be on the way as well. Looking across many of the new colors, they appear to be pretty fetching: Red Cayenne, Arctic Blue Metallic and Java Metallic, to name just a few.
So is this everything we’re expecting from the 2016 Nissan Maxima? If it emerges in dealerships looking anything like it does above, then we’ll be understandably excited. And so will you, when you visit our dealership at Avondale Nissan!
