As we eagerly await the day that the 2016 Nissan Titan arrives at Avondale Nissan, buyers have become increasingly antsy anticipating just what our new full-size pickup is capable of. Much of this excitement has centered around the rumors regarding the Titan’s excellent towing capabilities, which are set to change the way that Phoenix drivers haul their cargo. So what is it that makes the 2016 Nissan Titan XD towing capability so noteworthy? Well, here are a few things that help the cause.

Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel Powertrain. As you might have guessed, the most exciting development occurs under the hood of the 2016 Nissan Titan. The XD edition features an engine from the famed Cummins line, one that delivers 310 hp with an unbelievable 555 lb-ft of torque. This translates to a robust towing capacity of over five tons, rewarding drivers with unprecedented confidence when pulling heavy loads.
Redesigned, Heavy-Duty Chassis. Nissan clearly knew that when it was time to redesign the chassis for the Titan, they had their work cut out for them. They started by taking the chassis from the popular and trial-tested Nissan Commercial line, and then reinforced it with some beefier armor. In addition to the sturdier components, a new, heavy-duty suspension system was incorporated to the front and back, while the braking system was fortified with 14-inch hydraulic-boosted brakes as well. The final touch was adding a new axle and rear differential into the high-strength steel frame to give the 2016 Nissan Titan a more road-ready skeleton than ever before.
The Integrated Gooseneck Hitch. You might be aware of what a gooseneck hitch is, but you’ve likely never seen one like this. The gooseneck hitch sits directly in the center of the bed, and is fully integrated right into the frame of the truck. This means that the force to pull it isn’t taxing the chassis as it would on a normal hitch, which can affect alignment and potentially make your transmission work overtime. And, with the gooseneck hitch, you can simply remove it from the truck bed when you need to use a normal flat bed. Simply put, it’s amazing.
