As we enter the fall months in the Phoenix area, many among us are looking for ways to best ring in the new season. Perhaps our favorite events at Avondale Nissan are the yearly Oktoberfest celebrations, which recognize the unique culture found in what is today Germany. To help you find some of the best Oktoberfest events that our area has to offer, we’ve put together a small list. Enjoy them all!
The Best Oktoberfest Celebrations in the Phoenix Area 2016
Fountain Hills Oktoberfest — Fountain Hills, AZ — Sept. 30th through Oct. 1st
The season’s first Oktoberfest celebration kicks off at the end of this month, taking place just a short drive to the northeast of Phoenix. Some highlights of this event include an appearance from the Die-echten-Waldbaum Band (direct from Germany), homemade German food, and beer from the award-winning Warsteiner brewery. There are also interactive areas for kids, as well as contests for Best German Costume and Beer Stein Holding.
9th Annual SanTan Oktoberfest — Chandler, AZ — Oct. 1st
This event, hosted by the SanTan Brewing Company, celebrates its ninth year in 2016, and it is featuring a lineup of activities unlike any other area Oktoberfest. There are an assortment of beer games, a Von Hanson brat eating contest, and a family zone for the enjoyment of younger visitors. Perhaps most excitingly, the event features a music lineup that includes Reel Big Fish and Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers.
43rd Annual Tempe Oktoberfest — Tempe, AZ — Oct. 7th through 9th
For its 43rd year at Tempe Town Lake, this Oktoberfest celebration welcomes the beer from Four Peaks Brewery, along with German-style foot such as bratwursts and potato salad, as well as an appearance from Grammy-winning artist Lil Jon on Friday night. Additionally, there will be a large outdoor sports bar set up to watch the ASU Sun Devils take on the visiting UCLA Bruins on October 8th.
Oktoberfest Goodyear — Goodyear, AZ — Oct. 29th
This Oktoberfest celebration takes the all-inclusive route, and in doing so, might be more convenient than many competing events. Your ticket will include authentic Bavarian food, all-you-can-drink soft drinks, two free Weihenstephaner beers, your own beer mug, an event t-shirt, and entrance to a Munich-based German Oktoberfest band. Bear in mind, though, no one under 21 will be admitted.
These are just a small sampling of the area’s Oktoberfest celebrations to consider, so which are we missing? Leave them in the comments below, and come see us soon at Avondale Nissan!
