After a year of various stresses and memorable events…we’re ready for more stresses and memorable events! The holiday season is upon us at Avondale Nissan, which means we’ll be busy shopping, cooking and decorating, with hopefully some time to deliver the best sales and service in the Phoenix area to Nissan drivers! But first, let’s get a Christmas tree, shall we? Here are a few Christmas tree tips we’ve come to trust, which hopefully will help you in your annual arbor search!
However, for a tough tree, try the Noble Fir. The Noble Fir has only gained popularity as a Christmas tree in the last decade or so, partially because it is so massive in the wild that it just didn’t occur to many of us to try a smaller version in our living rooms. However, it’s quickly proven to be a hardy and healthy indoor tree with great needle retention and strong branches ot hold heavy ornaments.
A watered tree is a healthy tree. Keeping your tree healthy begins when you first select it, and give it a fresh cut on its trunk. After it’s cut, there is about a six-hour window to get it upright and into some water; otherwise, a seal will form on its trunk.
Anything else I should know? Some tree-buyers insist on putting an additive in the water, which supposedly helps with needle retention and extends the life of the tree. However, we’ve heard some horror stories which make us believe that water is all that’s necessary. And, if you’re worried about your tree drying out, we’d recommend using a spray flame retardant as well. Better safe than sorry.
Ready to go get your tree? We hope that our hints have helped, and on behalf of all of us at Avondale Nissan, Happy Holidays!
