Here's a List of our Favorite Halloween Entertainment Options!

Favorite Halloween Entertainment Options

We’d like to welcome you to Avondale Nissan’s first-ever list of our favorite Halloween entertainment options. These aren’t awards in the traditional sense, but these are our picks for some various entertainment options to consider for your upcoming Halloween festivities. Agree? Disagree? Let us know! And, in the meantime, enjoy these singular seasonal pleasures!

Best Halloween Film for the Kid in You: Hocus Pocus

Most among us don’t probably remember just how ridiculous this movie actually is. This movie is undeniably fun, even if it isn’t particularly good. We remember that Thackery Binx was a creepy talking cat. We remember that the bully named Ice had “Ice” sculpted into his hairdo. We remember the Madonna Halloween outfit. And most of all, we remember Sarah Jessica Parker’s pre-Carrie Bradshaw “Amok, amok, amok” refrain. Best to enjoy this movie for what it used to be, not for what you wish it was today.
Runner up: ParaNorman

Best Song for Your Halloween Party: “Monster Mash,” Boris Pickett

No surprise here. What might be surprising, though, is that this was just one of many songs made by Boris Pickett that were in the same general vein, including “Monster’s Holiday” and “Monster Rap.” None of those can boast the oddball charm of the original, of course.
Runner up: “Thriller,” Michael Jackson

Best Halloween Cartoon to Confuse your Kids: “The Pumpkin who Couldn’t Smile”

Some of the most entertaining things to force your children through are entertainment fixtures that don’t quite stand the test of time. And this short cartoon, starring Raggedy Ann and Andy, is certain to make a few eyes roll. For us, however, it’s the same satisfying head-scratcher it always was. Our favorite part? When the pumpkin cries pumpkin seeds. Priceless.
Runner-Up: “Halloween is Grinch Night”

Best Classic Horror Movie: The House on Haunted Hill (1959)

This creepy classic starring Vincent Price stands up extremely well, and is scores more unsettling than the remake made in 1999. It makes for some fun trivia as well: the exterior of the Haunted Hill was actually the famed Ennis House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and used in other films such as Blade Runner and Rush Hour.
Runner-Up: The Haunting (1963)

Best Halloween Thing we Found on YouTube Today: All of the Nickelodeon “Are You Afraid of the Dark” episodes

These require no introduction. Just enjoy.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this trip down Halloween memory lane, and that you’ll have enough to sufficiently scare (or embarrass) your kids! And come see us at Avondale Nissan soon for more Halloween spirit!
