With Thanksgiving fast approaching, many runners in the Phoenix area are getting geared up for one of the most popular seasonal events: the Turkey Trot. But where should you register for yours? Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Runs near Phoenix 2015
Turkey Day Run Phoenix — Downtown Phoenix
This is among the most popular Turkey Day runs in the Phoenix area, offering a flat, scenic 5k or 10k course for your enjoyment. It also offers two themed aid stations, including a pumpkin pie station and a cranberry aid station. There are also two additional races, a 1-Mile Gobbler Dash and a Tot Trot. Sounds like fun!
Mesa Turkey Trot — Mesa
This timed race is among the most competitive, allowing runners to have their 10k runs timed. There are also one- and two-mile run/walks earlier on Thanksgiving morning, with age groups going from 11 & under all the way up to 70+. Each age group winner gets a pie in this, one of Arizona’s oldest running events!
Anthem Turkey Trot — Anthem
Where some other races might be relatively flat, this isn’t one of them. The 13th Annual Anthem Turkey Trot winds through Anthem near Daisy Mountain and Gavilan Peak, featuring a 10k run, a 5k run/walk and a Kid’s Dash. Donations are taken for non-perishable food items as well, with those who donate being entered to win raffle prizes.
The Phoenician’s Annual Turkey Trot 5k — Scottsdale
Why not take your Turkey Trot on the road, out into the luxurious Phoenician resort? It’s the third edition of this non-competitive around the golf course, with 50% of proceeds benefitting the International Rescue Committee. It’s complimentary for guests of the resort, and just $20 for area residents.
