As we’ve gotten to know the many Phoenix-area shoppers who visit us at Avondale Nissan, we’ve also noticed that many of you express your interest in camping. Arizona has some of the best camping in the nation, and that has led us to put together a few tips for safe camping. If you choose to follow them all, we trust that your next camping excursion will be a success.
We don’t need to educate you on the dangers of oppressive heat, but if you find yourself in the Arizona wilderness without water, it’ll make its presence known pretty quickly. If you decide to strike out on a hike or take a quick canoe ride, make sure to bring enough water to get you through. We can’t stress it enough, there’s no such thing as too much water.
A first aid kit will keep you and your fellow travelers safe and comfortable should you come in contact with poisonous plants or get cut on a sharp edge. Ideally, a first aid kit should have a mixture of bandages, ointments, adhesives and more. To see a great checklist from the fine people at Red Cross, just click here.

Nothing is more disgusting than warm food that isn’t supposed to be warm. Of course, not only is it gross, it’s also very bad for you. That’s why it’s important to keep all of your food and drinks cold throughout your trip, by whatever means necessary. For some tips on how to keep your edibles cold, click here.
You might think you’ve found a great campsite, only to realize that it isn’t ideal upon further examination. Think of where your spot will be positioned in the midday sun, when the heat is the most brutal. Also, look to see if you’re in a spot that might wash out in the case of a rainstorm. Finally, look for any anthills or beehives, since you don’t want to come into contact with these during your camping trip.
Grill Safely with these Cookout Safety Tips
Different campsites have different rules, so it’s a good idea to check these before you commence your cooking and campfires. Some sites only allow fires during certain hours or certain months, or have specific rules for dealing with your trash. Whatever the rules are, check them, and follow them as best you can.
Now that we’ve given you the skinny on planning a successful camping trip, we suggest you make your way into the wilderness! Have a great vacation, and come see us soon at Avondale Nissan!
