Here's Your Guide to the Parades and Ceremonies for Veterans Day, Phoenix!

Next Friday, we all get the opportunity to honor our friends and family on Veterans Day, which is celebrated nationally on November 11th. As you’re likely aware, there will be parades and ceremonies found all around the Phoenix area, but where will you find them and when? Avondale Nissan has put together a handy little list of some for you to add to your calendar!

Veteran’s Day Parades and Events near Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix Veterans Day Parade | November 11th

As always, the premier event on the calendar is the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, which has occurred since 1997, and each year has a different theme. This year, the Phoenix parade has a theme of “Welcome Home, Vietnam Heroes,” in addition to being the twentieth year of the parade’s existence. It’s not one to be missed.

American Indian Veterans National Memorial Sunset Tribute | November 7th

Located on the grounds of the Heard Museum of American Indian Art & History, the National Memorial recognizing the service of American Indians will be holding a sunset ceremony at 5pm. The featured speaker will be Richard Carmona, former surgeon general of the United States and distinguished professor at the University of Arizona.

2nd Annual Veterans Day Parade and Pancake Breakfast | November 11th

Taking place in Surprise, AZ, the second year of this event promises to be even better than the first. Is there a better combination than a pancake breakfast followed by a parade? We’d argue that there is not. To test this theory, head to Surprise on Friday morning; the breakfast begins at 7am, followed by a parade at 9:30.

Phoenix Suns Military Appreciation Night | December 7th

While this certainly isn’t your traditional veterans event — and doesn’t take place until December, to coincide with the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack — it’s still worth adding to your slate of events. Military personnel receive 20% off of their tickets, and the first 2,500 in attendance receive a free camouflage Suns hat.
There are certainly more events than the ones we’ve listed here, and if you’d like to leave them in the comments, you’re certainly welcome to do so! Have a great Veterans Day, and come see us soon at Avondale Nissan!
