Braving Arizona: Winter Weather Lifehacks

Winter Weather Lifehacks

Did you see the weather last week? Temperatures under freezing? What was that all about? But, in all seriousness, the winter season brings challenges that few of us saw coming, and it got us thinking: what can we do to combat some of the problems that come with crappy weather? So here, from your friends at Avondale Nissan, are some winter weather lifehacks to get you through the potentially troublesome winter ahead.

If you are slipping and sliding around in your boots, try this: take some small screws, and twist them into the bottoms of your boots. You’ll have no trouble latching onto even the most slippery of surfaces. However–and this is a big “however”–definitely don’t wear them inside. Believe us when we say that they’ll do a number on your hardwood floors.

If you are having trouble with your windshield wipers and mirror freezing over, try this: life your wipers off of the windshield, and put regular socks on them. Yes, it looks silly, but it works. As for your mirrors, put ziplock bags around them overnight. Again, it looks silly, but it keeps the frost away.
If you are shoveling the driveway, and are noticing that the snow is sticking to the shovel, try this: apply some cooking spray to your shovel, and the snow will fly right off the shovel. You’d be surprised how much fun this can be.
If you are living in an area where you park outside overnight, try this: to avoid your windshield frosting over every morning, park your car facing east. This way, your windshield will get early morning sun and will melt before you leave for work.
Now you’re ready to face the winter, and you didn’t even spend any money! Have a great and safe travel season, and come see us soon at Avondale Nissan!
